Russian, Belarus and Kazakh snags impair Chinese auto export flow
AST year, Xinjiang's Sino-Kazakh border checkpoint Khorgas handled 15,750 exported automobiles, down 8.9 per cent compared to 2012. Value of these automobiles fell 15.18 per cent to US$35 million, reports Xinhua.
Exports of Chinese cars and trucks via Xinjiang's border checkpoints to Central Asian countries had been increasing in recent years, but barriers set up by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have caused a decline. Appreciation of the Renminbi also contributed, said Xinhua.
Besides, shrinkage of purchasing power in Central Asian market caused by weak economy in the region is another reason.
Khorgas is the largest road checkpoint in western China and Xinjiang's largest checkpoint for automobile exports.
