Los Angeles January container volume increases 2.5pc to 685,550 TEU
THE Port of Los Angeles has posted a 2.5 per cent increase in January throughput to 685,550 TEU year on year with imports increasing 6.7 per cent to 337,428 TEU while exports went up 1.7 per cent to 159,257 TEU.
The port authority attributed the increase to shippers moving cargo in advance of the Chinese New Year, which fell on January 31.
Combined laden import and export containers increased 5.1 per cent in January to 521,975 TEU while empties decreased 5.1 per cent to 685,550 TEU.
