Hamburger Hafen Logistik 2013 revenues up 2.3pc to US$1.56 billion
HAMBURG's main stevedore, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), posted a 15.3 per cent year-on-year decline in 2013 operating profit to EUR158 million (US$215.4 million), drawn on revenues of EUR1.15 billion, up 2.3 per cent.
The sharp operating profit decline was attributed to a EUR17.6 million one-off gain made in 2012.
The terminal operator's volume increased 4.4 per cent year-on-year to 7.5 million TEU while posting an 18 per cent increase in hinterland traffic to 1.2 million TEU.
Company chairman Klaus-Dieter Peters said HHLA was able to strengthen and extend its position in 2013 despite challenging macroeconomic environment.
