Chongqing traffic 12.7pc up in 2013 as truck, air passenger volumes lead
STATISTICS from Chongqing Transport Commission show that the city posted a 12.7 per cent year-on-year increase in cargo volume to 974 million tonnes in 2013, attributed to the constant upgrading of rail, road, air and waterway networks.
Last year, Chongqing's cargo traffic turnover increased 13.3 per cent to 300.06 billion tonnes per kilometre, Xinhua reports.
Truck and air passenger traffic were the fastest growing sectors in Chongqing's traffic in 2013 with road volumes rising 13.2 per cent to 807 million tonnes and air passenger traffic rising 16.4 per cent to 14.61 million passengers.
