Xiamen to launch seaborne express mail service to Taiwan in 2014
XIAMEN Municipal Commerce Bureau publicised its plan for 2014 to set up a free trade zone to launch a pilot run for seaborne express mail service to Taiwan, reports Xinhua.
The Xiamen Free Trade Zone is a test zone for Xiamen and Taiwan in further accelerating their cooperation on seaborne express delivery service, urban distribution logistics, food cold chain logistics and logistics informationisation and standardisation.
The zone will also develop the specialised market for Taiwan's agricultural produce, food, medicine and health products as well as cosmetics.
According to the bureau, in 2014, it plans to accelerate foreign trade's transformation and upgrade, to enhance economic and trade cooperation level with Taiwan, to cultivate new consumption growth area, to develop modern service industry and to propel the construction of "vegetable basket" project, a kind of vegetable and non-staple food supply service system.
