Manzhouli plans China's biggest farm produce export base to Russia
MANZHOULI checkpoint, the northern China's largest overland checkpoint in Inner Mongolia bordering Russia, plans to develop itself into a largest green agricultural produce export base in China to Russia, reports Xinhua.
The checkpoint's fruit and vegetable export value in the first 10 months of 2013 totalled US$190 million, ranking first among China's agricultural export port to Russia for consecutive years.
According to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region development plan, Manzhouli checkpoint has launched the south-to-north vegetable transportation project in 2013. Manzhouli checkpoint authorities and export enterprises have established cooperation mechanism with related departments in Hainan province to promote the transportation project.
It aims to increase its annual export volume to 500,000 tonnes from 330,000 tonnes in a short time through expanding fruit and vegetable exports.
