Chongqing rail freight up 4.2pc to 23.34 million tonnes in 2013
CHONGQING handled 23.34 million tonnes' rail freight in 2013, an increase of 4.2 per cent year on year, Xinhua reports.
Inbound container freight came to 787,000 tonnes, down 7.3 per cent year on year. Coal was up four per cent to 11.92 million tonnes. Metal ores grew 8.9 per cent to 3.42 million tonnes. Steel increased 23.6 per cent to 1.42 million tonnes. Machinery rose 15 per cent to 160,000 tonnes.
Outbound, container freight climbed 20.7 per cent to 4.93 million tonnes. Coal increased 20.7 per cent to 13.09 million tonnes. Steel went up 1.7 per cent up to 8.69 million tonnes. Wood products grew 25.2 per cent to 1.26 million tonnes. Petroleum fell 13.4 per cent to 1.47 million tonnes. Grain went up 1.9 per cent to 2.7 million tonnes.
