Hong Kong 380 CST bunker fuel premiums rise on Lunar New Year surcharge
Hong Kong 380 CST bunker fuel premiums to the Mean of Platts Singapore 380 CST high sulfur fuel oil assessments have climbed due to barge surcharges for the Lunar New Year holiday, market sources said.
Hong Kong 380 CST bunker fuel was assessed at $631.50/mt Monday, a premium of $20.60/mt to MOPS 380 CST HSFO assessments, according to Platts data. The premium was $17.07/mt Friday.
Bunker fuel suppliers are adding about a $2,000-2,500 surcharge to each delivery during January 30-February 4, supplier sources said.
"We must give barge crews triple pay during this period," a supplier said.
Supply and demand fundamentals in Hong Kong remained stable, market sources said. The market has sufficient supply, given on-time cargo replenishments and steady demand, they said.
