LA December boxes up 11.09pc to 494,761 TEU, but full-year off 2.59pc
THE Port of Los Angeles December container volume increased 11.09 per cent year on year, a rise attributed to shippers moving cargo ahead of China's week-long January 31 Chinese New Year factory shutdown.
But full year container volume at the San Pedro Bay harbour declined 2.59 per cent to 7,868,582 TEU, according to the port authority.
December imports increased 8.63 per cent 322,500 TEU while exports were up 16.85 per cent to 172,261 TEU, according to port statistics.
Combined, total loaded imports and exports for December increased 11.36 per cent to 494,761 TEU year on year. Factoring in empties, up 10.24 per cent December volumes were up 11.09 per cent to 653,358 TEU.
