Liaoning's box volume up 16.7pc to 18 million TEU in 2013
NORTHEASTERN China's coastal province of Liaoning recorded an aggregate port container throughput volume of 18 million TEU in 2013, 16.7 per cent increase compared to that in 2012, reports Xinhua.
In the same period, throughput tonnage of the ports in the province hit one billion tonnes, with the annual growth surpassing 100 million tonnes for four years in a row.
Its Dalian port's container throughput is expected to reach 10 million TEU in 2013 with the launch of Arctic Ocean shipping service. The province's regional port of Dandong has become its third biggest port with the cargo throughput topping 100 million tonnes. Meanwhile, Panjin and Suizhong Port Group have set up in the province.
For the third consecutive year, Liaoning's investment on ports in 2013 came to CNY20 billion (US$3.3 billion), with a number of projects completed including a 200,000-tonne ore terminal in Dandong port and a Dayao Bay container terminal in Dalian port.
