Asia Pacific air cargo results up by 5.4 per cent in November
ASIAN air traffic results showed a return to robust demand in air freight for November, according to figures from the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA).
International cargo traffic, expressed in freight tonne kilometres (FTK) terms, registered 5.4 per cent growth in November compared to the same month last year.
Overall in the first eleven months, international air cargo remained relatively weak compared to passenger at 0.7 per cent lower compared to same period 2012, said AAPA director general Andrew Herdman in a report from Atlanta area Air Cargo World.
In spite of year-end export uplift, average international freight load factor declined in a 0.5 percentage point fall to 67.3 per cent against increase of 6.1 per cent in offered freight capacity.
International passenger continued to maintain steady growth seen in the past five years reaching a total of 200 million international passengers in the past 11 months, a six per cent increase year on year.
"Looking ahead, Asian carriers remain positive about prospects for further growth in demand for air travel in the coming year, and ongoing stabilisation of air cargo demand, supported by the gradual improvement in global business and consumer sentiment," Mr Herdman added
