Symbionics, Pan Am Flight Academy pass pilot trainees on online similator
THE Pan Am International Flight Academy, an All Nippon Airways unit and the last surviving division of old Pan Am American World Airways, has announced that 100 candidates have passed through its online pre-pilot assessment service developed with Symbiotics Ltd.
Symbiotics began working with Pan Am in October 2012 on the development of screening tool to enable pilot candidates to access it directly through the academy's website, said the Symbiotics press release.
"The result has been to help Pan Am identify the most suitable candidates at the same time as providing those candidates with a predictive guide to their performance before committing to the cost of training," the release said.
In addition, Symbiotics has been working with Pan Am's UK representative to facilitate the provision of personalised feedback and guidance for British candidates, promoting the tests through seminars in the UK and assessment sessions that deliver immediate results.
While most of the first 100 candidates have been from Britain, the online assessment has also been undertaken by others in Ireland, Brazil, Sri Lanka and Singapore, said the release.
Said Symbiotics CEO Nikki Heath: "The throughput of 100 candidates is a significant milestone in our relationship with Pan Am - a name that still evokes so much of the history of commercial aviation. By working closely with them, we have been able to help the Pan Am Academy derive the maximum benefit from our industry-leading pilot screening and assessment tool."
Pan Am International Flight Academy has its origins in Pan American World Airways (bankrupt in 1991) as its original training division and provides flight simulation and training on all the leading aircraft types, operating nine training facilities in the US and abroad, with more than 200 aviation training programmes available.
