American Airlines Cargo launches B777-200ER LAX-Sao Paulo cargo link
AMERICAN Airlines Cargo is offering wide-body cargo service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sao Paulo, Brazil (GRU).
The daily LAX-GRU service schedule departs from LAX at 2240 hrs and arrives at Sao Paulo at 1645 hrs.
The new service, operated with a B777-200ER, provides customers with a fourth gateway to and from Sao Paulo. American is the only airline to offer this daily non-stop service. Currently, American offers service between Sao Paulo and Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, New York and Los Angeles.
"We're excited to offer this new service, and we expect it to be a great opportunity for our customers moving freight from Asia to Brazil," said Jim Butler, president of American Airlines Cargo. "This new service is just another way we're growing our global network and continuing to provide customers with more options for shipping."
Automotive parts, equipment and infrastructure for mobile networks and international mail are expected to be the primary exports from Asia into Brazil. Perishables, leather and aircraft parts are expected to be the major exports from Brazil.
In November, American launched cargo service between Miami and Milan, Italy, Dallas/Fort Worth and Bogota, Columbia, and southbound service from Miami to Curitiba, Brazil and Porto Alegre, Brazil. American will offer wide-body service between Dallas/Fort Worth and Hong Kong as well as Dallas/Fort Worth and Shanghai, China in June 2014.
