Aaras Projects faced difficulties unloading power generators in Karachi
AARAS Project & Logistics Pakistan, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Pakistan, faced challenges unloading heavylift electric power generating equipment from the Singaporean 7,713-dwt Han Zhi from Shanghai in the Port of Karachi recently.
With the help of the Aaras Shipping Agencies, the company undertook to provide stevedoring, heavylift, custom clearance and transport for the cargo.
The vessel carried power project and general cargo, containing 244 packages units with a total weight of 1,722 tonnes, including oil tanks of 25 tonnes each, transformers four units of 150 tonnes and four units of 70 tonnes each and a turbine of 60 tonnes per unit and miscellaneous accessories.
The 20-hour discharge at night proved difficult in Karachi port, but Aaaras appointed stevedoring and the company's operations staff showed their competence in working with awkward cargo.
The cargo was stacked at the port area and awaited loading onto the transport units, and after customs clearance, it then proceeded towards its destination.
The Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) is the leading franchise/membership network for professional project cargo freight forwarders with country-area exclusivity.
