CEVA doubles Leipzig health warehousing to 14,000 square metres

DUTCH supply chain company CEVA Logistics is doubling warehouse capacity in Leipzig to 14,000 square metres, taking over a mezzanine at its healthcare distribution centre run entirely for medical equipment maker Medtronic, reports the UK's Transport Intelligence.

CEVA distributes Medtronic products to central and eastern Europe as well as to Israel, involving the receipt of inbound goods, inventory management, picking and packing outbound products, customs documentation as well as quality control, reverse logistics and cold storage.

A new conveyor system has been installed, connecting incoming goods with the upper mezzanine floor, as well as connecting the collection platform of the new area with the central packaging area on the ground floor.

Said Metronic vice president Sikko Zoer: "This capacity expansion reconfirms the position of our Leipzig distribution centre as a main European logistics hub. In collaboration with CEVA, we are growing our capabilities to serve Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe."
