French government railway reforms prompt strikes by five SNCF unions
A 36-hour national strike by workers at French state railway SNCF has hit as five unions protest government reforms they claim will lead to the railway breaking up and workers losing state employee protections.
Fret SNCF, the railway's freight arm, said the strike would cause reductions in schedules and recommended shippers postpone shipments during the strike period, reports Lloyd's Loading List.
