Hubei to set up railway logistics facility, linking express delivery
A LOGISTICS facility based on railway intermodal service is soon to be open in central China province Hubei's Wuhan city, which will also develop other kinds of multimodal services in the future, Xinhua reports.
The new facility will be located at the north of the city's Hankou area, and enjoys proximity to the Wuhan North Railway Station, the largest classification yard in Asia, the Wuhan Port and the Tianhe International Airport.
With convenient access to various means of traffic, the new facility will mainly offer railway intermodal service as well as warehousing and distribution services at the beginning.
It will later expand to other types of multimodal services integrating road, rail, waterway and air transport, especially for containerised goods. A logistics information sharing platform will also be set up for buyers and suppliers.
Multi-modal services will be a propellant to the logistics development in Hubei province and even the entire central China region, said Zhou Chigang, a manager in charge of cargo business from the Wuhan Railway Bureau.
The facility has attracted 35 domestic logistics companies including two of the largest couriers in China, SF Express and YTO Express, to talk with or to sign cooperation agreement with the Wuhan Railway Bureau.
