Suzhou port's volume expected to hit 600 million tonnes by 2020
OVERALL Planning of Suzhou port for 2013 to 2030 has won approval recently from Ministry of Department and Jiangsu Provincial Government, reports Xinhua.
The Port of Suzhou, one of the major ports in coastal China and the key component and container main line port of the Shanghai International Shipping Centre, plays an important role in promoting economic development in Yangtze River Delta.
According to the plan, the port will be divided into three port areas including Zhangjiagang, Changshu and Taicang with 14 working zones, covering a quay length of 86.9 kilometres, of which deep-water quay line 83.7 kilometres.
The throughput in the port is expected to hit 600 million tonnes and 750 million tonnes respectively by 2020 and 2030.
