Ningxia 10-month rail freight volume down 3.7pc to 38 million tonnes
NORTHWESTERN Ningxia railway moved a total outbound cargo of 38.32 million tonnes in the first 10 months, a decline of 3.7 per cent or 1.45 million tonnes compared to the same period last year, reports Xinhua.
Coal movements in the period dropped 2.9 per cent or 896,000 tonnes to 29.4 million tonnes. While other industrial products such as steel increased 3.5 per cent to 1.03 million tonnes, grain was up 26.2 per cent to 482,000 tonnes and chemicals grew 19.2 per cent to 888,000 tonnes.
In October, the state-owned rail outbound cargo volume reached 3.93 million tonnes, 90,000 tonnes more than last same period, affected by the demand increase for winter coming.
