Fujian's Pingtan checkpoints win Taiwan fruit import state approval
A CROSS-STRAIT ferry carrying 580 containers of fruit from Taiwan recently berthed Pingtan city, marking the first docking since the terminal was granted state approval to import fruit, Xinhua reports.
Valued at US$6,172, the Taiwan fruit weighed in at 4,980 kilogrammes. Ten types of fruit were in the consignment 23 approved items. One type is still awaiting approval and was exhibited at the 2013 Taiwan Product Trade Fair at Pingtan.
The Pingtan fair was held from November 18 to 24. The fair covers an exhibition area of 20,000 square metres and showcases more than 1,000 categories of produce.
