Yang Ming joins UASC, CSCL in transpacific slot-swap arrangement
TAIWAN's Yang Ming line is to merge its existing PSW4 service with United Arab Shipping Co (UASC) and China Shipping Container Line's joint transpacific string called AWS1 and CSCL to form a tripartite joint service.
The service will deploy six vessels of 4,250 TEU, of which three will come from Yang Ming, two from UASC, and one by CSCL, reports Alphaliner.
The inaugural sailing will depart from Xiamen on December 5 with a revised port rotation: Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland and back to Xiamen.
Yang Ming's existing PSW2 is to have slot swaps with both carriers and be renamed as AAS3 by CSCL and AWS3 by USAC. It will have the port rotation of Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Kaohsiung, Keelung, Los Angeles, Oakland, Busan, Kwangyang, Keelung, Kaohsiung and back to Hong Kong.
CSCL's AAC will swap slots with the Taiwanese carrier. Port rotation will be Qingdao, Lianyungang, Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan, Los Angeles, Oakland, and back to Qingdao.
Yang Ming's role in the CKHY Alliance with Cosco, "K" Line, and Hanjin will continue to be its main collaboration, said its president and CEO of North America region Wen-Jin Lee, reported American Shipper.
