Port of Virginia posts 17.8pc October volume increase to 206,597 TEU
THE Port of Virginia has posted a 17.8 per cent year-on-year volume increase in October to 206,597 TEU, which also represents this year's monthly record, overtaking July's 205,137 TEU.
October rail volume was up 14.7 per cent year on year in first 11 months. Imports increased 24.9 per cent to 98,968 TEU against exports at 107,630 TEU, an increase of 12 per cent.
Its intermodal container facility, Virginia Inland Port (VIP), reported a record month in October and its best in over six years at 3,661 TEU, up 9.2 per cent year on year.
