Damco launches air cargo charter service from Zhuhai to Amsterdam
A Boeing 777 carrying products of multinational manufacturers like Microsoft took off from western Guangdong's Zhuhai airport for Amsterdam, marking the launch of Zhuhai's first air freight charter service to Europe, Xinhua reports.
The service is operated by Damco, the logistics company under AP Moller-Maersk Group. Damco is offering contract logistics service for a number of companies including Microsoft.
The freight will be shipped from Zhuhai to Los Angeles, Amsterdam, London, Chicago, New York and Paris. The charter service will offer as many as 15 flights per week, using wide-body aircraft like Boeing 777 and 747.
An official from Zhuhai government said the charter cargo flight service will facilitate the city's cooperation with leading carriers and spur the development of the city's logistics industry. The city also wants to seize the opportunity to seek further cooperation with Maersk.
