China's October rail freight volume up 7.4pc to 348.1 million tonnes

CHINA'S railway business performed well in October with a year-on-year growth of 7.4 per cent in the national departure freight volume and 12.1 per cent in the departure passenger volume, Xinhua reports.

China's railways posted an October departure cargo volume of 348.1 million tonnes, 23.9 million tonnes more than in the same month last year. Daily departure freight increased 7.4 per cent to 11.22 million tonnes.



China's daily freight car loading volume averaged 142,509 cars in October, having kept a growth since July and was 7,788 cars more than in October 2012, and 2,531 cars more than in September.



Railway authorities in Shenyang, Kunming, Urumqi and the operator of Qinghai-Tibet Railway all recorded growth of more than 10 per cent.
