Luzhou-Kunming container river-rail intermodal service launched
THE container river-rail intermodal service from Sichuan province's river city Luzhou to Yunnan province's hinterland city Kunming has commenced operation and become a new cargo transport route between Sichuan and Yunnan, Xinhua reports.
The route connects the port of Luzhou to Chengdu-Chongqing railway and Shanghai-Kunming Railway to Kunming North Railway Station. Transport time takes only two hours, more than four days faster than just by rail.
If shipments from Shanghai Free Trade Zone are moved by the Shanghai-Luzhou river container shipping service to Luzhou, then again moved by the new river-rail intermodal service to Kunming, transportation time will only be around 13 days.
Luzhou port has been operating river box shipping services to Shanghai and Wuhan, and another via Wuhan to Taiwan. The city also plans to launch another river-rail intermodal service to southwestern region of Sichuan province.
