Ningbo Meishan Bonded Area's whole car import checkpoint good to go
NINGBO Meishan Bonded Port Area has received approval to open its whole car import checkpoint for operation and become the province's first coastal checkpoint for whole-car imports and China's seventh, reports Xinhua.
Officials from the General Administration of Customs, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision recently inspected the checkpoint and approved the launch.
Meishan whole car import checkpoint was also approved by the Chinese State Council in November 2012 with a planned area of 66.6 hectares and four major functional areas such as terminal operating area, inspection area, auto stack yard area and comprehensive auxiliary and added value service areas.
Phase 1 has been completed with the construction of a ro-ro container dock at No 2 berth, a temporary auto stack yard, a casual inspection withholding area, two new auto inspection lines and customs information supervision system.
Thus far, it has attracted a group of auto dealers, traders and logistics providers from home and abroad and is expected to welcome its first batch of import cars by the year end
