AVEVA yesterday announced that it has further strengthened its educational relationship with Newcastle University, by providing additional software licences for use by the university's School of Marine Science & Technology on its Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture degree programmes. AVEVA Outfitting™ technology will be used by approximately 70 third-year and fourth-year students in the 2013/2014 academic year. The AVEVA software will be used on group design projects in the students' final year.
'This additional AVEVA software will enhance our students' capabilities,' said Dr. Kayvan Pazouki, Teaching Fellow in Marine Engineering, Newcastle University. 'AVEVA is helping us to equip students with the skill set needed to use one of the leading 3D design tools in the shipbuilding industry. Our students can now experience working with this industry-leading software to develop their own 3D models.'
'Newcastle University has already successfully implemented and run courses using AVEVA Hull™ and AVEVA Initial Design™, so AVEVA Outfitting was a logical addition to its programme,' said Fredy Ktourza, Senior Vice-President, Western Europe and Africa, AVEVA. 'We recently completed training in AVEVA Outfitting for six lecturers so that they can immediately begin using it with the students. This donation is part of AVEVA's Academic Initiative and will help to encourage a new generation of ship designers and engineers, contributing to the future success of the whole industry.'

The AVEVA Academic Initiative benefits educational institutions, their students, employers, and the global engineering community. AVEVA's educational partners range from local vocational training centres to the world's most prestigious postgraduate universities. Common to all is a dedication to developing engineering skills that can be applied directly in the process plant, power and maritime industries.
