As Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) Brazil prepares to exhibit at Navalshore 2013, Area Director for Latin America, Henrique Schlaepfer, has spoken about ongoing expansion and development throughout the region, despite increased competition across the Brazilian maritime sector. Schlaepfer says:
“For a ships services provider such as WSS, Latin America (LATAM) can be a challenging operational area. Our region encompasses many different countries – each with their own unique economies and political regimes. In addition, competition on both a local and international scale is increasing.”
However, Schlaepfer and his team believe that the outlook for the region remains a positive one, with order books continuing to fill for rigs (drilling and FPSO types), supply boats and seismic vessels, combined with container and bulk fleet renewal and demands from Ro-Ro and specialised cargo vessels. Schlaepfer says:
“Our regional teams are working closely with our customers and market experts to ensure that we can continue to offer integrated solutions based on our global product and service portfolio, including everything from marine chemicals and safety services to ships agency and husbandry.”
Navalshore will be held in Rio de Janeiro from 13-15 August. With over 300 exhibitors and 18,000 visitors expected from all over the world, the event will focus on the improvement of management strategies and production in the marine and offshore industry.
Navalshore will also play host to a series of technical workshops run by industry specialists in electroplating, welding and shipbuilding in a bid to demonstrate best practice.
