The boss of Nanjing Hengrui Shipping has run away and is currently nowhere to be found. It is reported that the company owes up to RMB100m in debts, with crewmembers unpaid for nearly five months.
Local police have started an investigation after receiving reports from the creditors of the company that the shipowner, Lin Changsheng, had absconded.
Hengrui Shipping owns a fleet of 11 vessels, a mix of bulkers and boxships, with a total capacity of more than 100,000dwt, mainly focusing on domestic routes.
