At the end of May, linervision announced the upcoming launch of the ‘Atacama’ loop, a new Balboa-WCSA service of Maersk Line.
As it turns out, the ‘new’ service (#2816) is in fact a consolidation of the carrier’s Panama-WCSA feeder ‘Putumayo’ (#677) and the intra-WCSA feeder ‘Callao’ (#679), into a new weekly service with the following rotation:
Balboa, Esmeraldas, Callao, Iquique, Arica, Paita, Balboa.
With the exception of Buenaventura, the merged loop will thus cover all ports previously served by the two separate feeders. The Colombian port remains connected to the Maersk Line network through the carrier’s Transpacific ‘AC3′ (#458) and the Black Sea – WCSA ‘Ecumed’ (#1699).
The service consolidation will be effective next week and the merged loop is to employ three 2,500 teu vessels, compared to a total of five ships on the two separate loops.
