Istanbul 380 CST high sulfur fuel oil and marine gasoil prompt prices are set to keep rising due to low stocks as local Turkish refineries cut bunker production, sources said.
"We have a cargo but [we don't know] what will happen in two days," a bunker supplier said. Bunker fuel output was reduced by local refineries as they switched to producing bitumen for road construction instead.
"Bunker participants are unsure how to offset low output," a bunker source said Wednesday. "Supplies are tight at most of suppliers and we are in the middle of the busiest season driven by cruise ships and cargo vessels."
Due to low availability, 380 CST HSFO values surged Tuesday, assessed at $644.50/mt, moving up $10/mt from the month's lowest level on June 13.
Marine gasoil was at $$958.50/mt Tuesday, up $18/mt from the month's lowest level on June 11.
