At the meeting of the IMarEST Ballast Water Expert Group held on 8th May 2013 the follow forward plan was proposed for the 6 month (and beyond if required) period from May to October 2013. The BWEG will focus on:
The submission of an information paper on fast sampling and analysis to the 18th session of the IMO Subcommittee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG). In addition, this paper may be developed further, possibly with other scientists for an additional future IMO submittal and possible publication in the Journal of Marine Engineering and Technology.
Supporting the IMO in the development of the "BWM - How to do it" manual.
The production and submission of an information or working paper on Ballast Water Contingency Planning to be submitted to the 18th session of the IMO Subcommittee on Bulk Liquids and Gases (BLG).
Development of an information paper on Ballast tank Stripping using Eductors to be based on the presentations given at the recent IMarEST BW Conference.
Participation in the IMO GloBallast R&D Forum and Shipbuilders Forum being held during the week beginning 21 October 2013 in Busan, ROK. It will do this by the provision of a keynote speaker at the GloBallast R&D Forum on Oct 23nd and providing a chair for the Shipbuilders Forum being held on 22 October 2013.
