Statoil has fixed a vessel to transport Forties crude oil to Chile from the North Sea through a spot deal with state-owned Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP), sources familiar with both companies' operations said Friday.
The 130,000 mt Suezmax-sized cargo was due to load at Hound Point on the Sabine on June 26. It was fixed at Worldscale 40, a shipping report seen by Platts said Friday. Hound Point is the loading location for Forties crude. A crude oil trader at Statoil was not available for comment.
However, another source familiar with the deal said the 1 million-barrel cargo of Forties crude was sold at around front-month ICE Brent plus $1.70/b.
Statoil Thursday bought a 600,000 barrel cargo of Forties crude loading June 27-29 from BP during the Platts Market on Close assessment process at Dated Brent minus $0.15/barrel. Two days earlier, Glencore bought a June 26-28 loading Forties cargo at Dated Brent minus $0.50/b, Platts data showed.
It was unclear which other cargo of North Sea crude would fill the vessel.
