Starting from this week, commodity trader Vitol and physical bunker supplier V-Marine Fuel will jointly supply all marine grades of bunker fuel oil in the German port of Hamburg using five barges, a source close to V-Marine said.
Starting from June 3 Vitol's bunker fuel is being marketed under the V-Marine Fuels brand, the company's website said.
The Vitol Group based in Netherlands, has operated bunker supplies in the port of Hamburg since December 2012, a company source said Thursday. Vitol also has a presence in bunker hubs all over the world.
According to German bunker traders, Vitol has run cargo supplies for a long time as a cargo dealer specializing in marine gasoil in Hamburg and rents some storage tanks across Germany.
According to the company's website, V-Marine Fuels was launched by Cockett Group in March, and also supplies bunker fuel in the UK and Northern France, Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Amsterdam and the US.
Hamburg bunker participants said that by entering a bunker market, V-marine Fuels pushed fuel prices down creating more competition for volumes and buyers.
