Xiamen box volume rises 17pc to 2.42 million TEU in first four months
SOUTHEASTERN Chinese port of Xiamen lifted 2.42 million TEU from January to April, 17.3 per cent more than in the same period in 2012, becoming the second fastest growing in China.
In the same period, Xiamen posted an overall cargo throughput of 59.61 million tonnes, up 13.9 per cent, said Xinhua.
Last year, throughput grew 11.4 per cent to 7.2 million TEU and increased 10.1 per cent in volume to 172 million tonnes. It was the fastest growing among southern China ports being the third busiest harbour on the mainland.
