Eight lines to offer three Asia - South America joint services

Eight container lines will launch three new joint services between the Far East and South America East Coast from July 2013.
The new services will be restructured from an existing four networks currently operated by six carriers, namely CMA CGM, Maersk Line, Hamburg Süd, CSAV, China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and Hanjin Shipping.
CCNI and Hapag-Lloyd will join the six lines to offer the three newly restructured joint services.
“The new services allow for a more cost efficient and flexible network adjusted to the current trading environment and reflects current market demand in the Far East to East Coast South America trade,” CMA CGM said in a statement.
The three new services – SEAS 1, SEAS 2, SEAS 3 – will replace four services, namely ASAS 2/NGX 2/SEAS 2/ASAX 2, SEAS 1/ASAX 1, ASAS 1/NGX 1, and ALX/ASE.
All the three new services will run on 8,000 teu containerships, with SEAS 1 operating 11, SEAS 2 running on 12 and SEAS 3 with 10.
