Qatargas is attending the 17th International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 17) being held from 16 - 19 April at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
Qatargas' Chief Executive Officer, Sh. Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, is leading the Company's delegation to the event, accompanied by senior officials including Chief Operating Officer - Engineering & Ventures, Sh. Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani, Chief Operating Officer - Administration, Ghanim Al-Kuwari and Chief Operating Officer - Commercial & Shipping, Alaa Abujbara.
Commenting on Qatargas' participation in the conference, Sh. Khalid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatargas CEO said, "Our participation in this premier event is an ideal opportunity to meet with key stakeholders and industry peers to discuss ideas and innovations across the LNG value chain. LNG 17 brings together key players in the LNG business, as well as industry experts, and creates opportunities for knowledge sharing and networking. Qatargas is participating as a 'Diamond Sponsor' at the event. Qatargas sponsored the 'Golf Day' held at the Woodlands Country Club in Houston on April 15. A large number of delegates attending the conference participated in the Golf Day, taking advantage of the networking and socializing opportunity the event presented. Qatargas Chief Operating Officer - Commercial & Shipping, Alaa Abujbara gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament. Qatargas is also sponsoring the Wi-Fi services throughout the duration of the event at the Convention Center.
An exhibition is being held alongside the conference. Qatargas is participating in the exhibition as part of the Qatar Petroleum pavilion. The Qatargas stand showcases the Company's state-of-the-art LNG production facilities and provides information about its ongoing operations and projects.
Qatargas is participating in the Gas Recruitment, Education and Training' (GREaT) Center, a specialist pavillion being held on the sidelines of LNG 17. The GREaT Center has been designed to foster development of the workforce which supports the LNG industry. Qatargas Human Resources representatives are utilizing this opportunity to share information regarding job vacancies, career opportunities, entry requirements and potential career pathways to interested candidates.
Qatargas is also participating in meetings of the LNG programme committee of the International Gas Union (IGU) being in conjunction with LNG 17. The meetings will discuss various topics including remote LNG, LNG as a fuel, small scale LNG and LNG Life Cycle Analysis.
Qatargas delivered its first ever LNG cargo into the USA in December 2009 at the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal. Since then, Qatargas has developed a track record for delivering LNG cargoes safely and reliability into several North American Terminals, including the Golden Pass LNG Terminal, the Elba Island LNG Terminal and the Sabine Pass LNG Terminal in the USA as well as the Altamira terminal in Mexico and the Canaport terminal in Canada.
LNG 17 is considered to be the biggest global gas event in 2013 with over 5000 industry professionals from over 80 countries expected to attend. The LNG series of events began in 1968 and are held every three years, alternating between producer and consumer nations.
