Jardine Shipping Services managed yet again in excess of 3,000 port calls in China during 2012, for the 3rd year running. This encouraging result was achieved through the combined efforts of Jardine Shipping Services (JSS) and Jardine United International Shipping Agencies Ltd (JUNISA), a joint venture of JSS and Shenzhen United International Shipping Agency Co. (SUNISCO).
An impressive 60% of the port calls fell in the bulk category, followed by 30% in tankers. JSS entered the China market in the early 1970s and today its operations cover virtually all open ports in China. JSS’s Shanghai representative office operates as a hub contact for China port agency services to further enhance customer efficiency. JSS’s vast experience and well established network in northern, central and southern China resulted in an impressive further increase in the number of vessels it successfully handled. With JSS’s professional and value-added services, and its high global standards in areas such as quality management, Code of Conduct, and Health, Security, Safety and Environment, it managed to further expand its client base and geographic reach.
It is foreseen that the China port agency business will continue to expand in the coming years as China’s economy is expected to continue to grow at an impressive 7.5% GDP per annum. Raw materials and petroleum products are major areas of growth in this vast country as more and more logistics and petrochemical infrastructure projects are planned and under development.
“JSS China has positioned itself as the partner of choice for our clients in China and we have been successful to succeed together in this sizable market.” commented Raymond Cheng, Head of Port Agency, China and Hong Kong of Jardine Shipping Services.
