Royal Norwegian Embassy announces summit on Asia’s offshore exploration and production

Increased energy demand due to rapid economic development is driving many Asia Pacific countries to reduce their dependency on imported oil and gas by upping local offshore exploration and production (E&P) activities.
Responding to this reality, The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Singapore announces the free-to-attend ASIA OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE on Tuesday 16 April in Singapore to meaningfully assess ‘The Challenges of Offshore E&P in Asia Pacific’.
A specially commissioned survey report analysing key trends in the region’s E&P sector will be disclosed at the conference. The report will cover the entire E&P value chain from international and national oil companies, contractors for production, engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) and drilling, to regulators.
“This summit will address the pivotal issues influencing and affecting local and regional E&P,” said Mr Tormod C. Endresen, Norwegian Ambassador to Singapore. “Market outlook, naturally, as well as the state of applicable technology, ageing assets, human resources and inspection, maintenance and repair.
“A highlight of the half-day conference will be a panel of regulators from several Asian countries discussing the regulatory environment in terms of offshore safety, its current status and possible future trends – including the potential for a unified approach to requirements.”
Senior figures from the oil and gas sector, including oil majors and key service providers, will join Ambassador Endresen and Mr Lim Kok Kiang, Executive Director of Singapore’s Economic Development Board, speaking at the conference which is free to attend.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy is co-organising the ASIA OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE in partnership with Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Business Association (Singapore), and global ship classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
