Ministry of Shipping has started the process of appointing the Chairman and Managing Director of state-run Shipping Corporation, Parliament was informed today.
The post of the CMD of Shipping Corporation of IndiaBSE 0.86 % (SCI) has been lying vacant since January. The previous Chairman S Hazara retired in December last year.
"The senior most functional Director of SCI has been assigned the additional charge of the post of CMD and the affairs of the company are not suffering and the action has been initiated to appoint the CMD," Shipping Minister G K Vasan informed Rajya Sabha today.
Meanwhile, the minister also informed the Upper House of the Parliament that security clearance for the ports would be taken up on a case by case basis.
"Security clearance is sought on project to project basis from the security agencies and as per the new guidelines once the security clearance is granted to a company, it will be valid for three years," he said.
