Guangdong to spend US$11.5 billion on transport infrastructure this year
GUANGDONG province plans to spend CNY72 billion (US$11.57 billion) provincial surface transport infrastructure this year, Xinhua reports.
Some CNY64.45 billion will be spent on roads, including CNY42 billion on expressways, CNY6 billion on state and provincial highways and CNY16.45 billion on rural roads.
Port facilities will take up CNY5.9 billion. Navigational channels will receive CNY600 million and freight stations, CNY550 million. Application of new technologies and upgrade of truck and ships will cost CNY500 million.
Guangdong plans to accelerate the development of a more extensive state expressway network and inter-provincial network. It aims to finish building up 200 kilometres' new expressways and start seven new projects totalling 600 kilometres this year.
