Indonesia floods paralyse production at Jakarta's 300 factories
THE flooding of Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, has created a temporary paralysis of production at 300 factories in the east of the city due to worker shortage and disruption of the supply chain.
The factories which house manufacturing and automotive facilities were intact despite unusually heavy monsoon rains creating floodwaters levels between 20 centimetres and 100 centimetres. It is estimated to cost the government IDR2 trillion (US$207 million).
Loss for employers are estimated at less than US$100 million, said the Indonesian Employers Association chairman Sofyan Wanandi, cited a report from Singapore's Procurement Asia.
