Kunming Railway 2012 freight volume hits 37.9 billion tonnes per kilometre
SOUTHWEST Yunnan Kunming Railway Bureau posted one billion tonnes per kilometre year-on-year increase in cargo volume to 37.9 billion tonnes per kilometre in 2012, reports Xinhua.
The passenger transport volume increased 470,000 people in total to 30.16 million seats sold. The province outbound supplies reached 35.03 million tonnes, and increase of 530,000 tonnes.
In 2012, the bureau explored its transport potential and set up online freight business service with the aim of achieving its annual freight and passenger transport target. It has also launched four freight express services and 10 across-bureau direct train services to enhance railway transport efficiency.
