Chongqing to build intermodal base for Chongqing-European railway

THE Chongqing Transportation Holding Group Co Ltd, a state-owned traffic infrastructure investor, is to invest on building an intermodal logistics facility for the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe Railway with stands up on paper to be the largest in operation in Chongqing, Xinhua reports.

The 80-hectare facility with 680,000 square metres of floor space will be in Chongqing Western Logistics Park. It will have an intermodal rail centre, and a trucking base consisting of a freight hub and an urban distribution centre.

After completion, the facility is estimated to have an output of more than CNY2 billion (US$321.8 million) per year and create over 2,000 job opportunities.
