Shaanxi road builders put 4,000 kilometres in service from 1986-2013
NORTHWESTERN Shaanxi provincial road building exceeded 4,000 kilometres in 2012, and it is expected to reach 5,000 kilometres by 2015, reports Xinhua.
Provincial highway construction since 1986 produced 1,000 kilometres by 2003, 3,000 kilometres in 2010 and 2,000 more kilometres in 2007, totalling 4,083 kilometres by January 1 this year, said Shaanxi Transport Department director Feng Xining.
In 2013, the province plans to build 15 expressways totalling 1,000 kilometres and expects the projects to be finished by the end of 2015 totalling 5,000 kilometres.
The building includes five trunk expressways, the Yan'an-Zhidan-Wuqi Expressway, south section of Tongchuan-Huangling Expressway, Lueyang section of Shiyan-Tianshui Expressway, Yulin-Jia County and the Yulin-Samsung Expressway.
The province will also accelerate construction of 10 expressway projects including the northern section of the Tongchuan-Huangling Expressway, Xian-Xianyang north loop line, Yanan-Yanchuan, Xianyang-Xunyi, Hanzhong-Xiaoba (Shaanxi and Sichuan border), Jiangzhang-FamenTemple and Ankang-Pingli.
