Guangdong to build highway network to cover all its counties by 2015
GUANGDONG province plans to build expressways linking all its counties by the end of 2015, and building highways that will total 6,500 kilometres, reports Xinhua.
In 2012, the province expressway investment reached CNY41.8 billion (US$6.72 billion), with 455 kilometres of expressway built, totalling 5,504 kilometres province-wide by 2013.
Recently, the province has founded South Guangdong Traffic Investment Construction Company to facilitate new highway construction. The group has undertaken 10 expressway projects costing CNY140 billion.
These include Yunfu-Luoding Expressway phase one project namely Shuangfeng-Shuangdong section finished construction and put into operation by the end of 2012, becoming the first expressway in the province's city Luoding.
