HK 2012 volume down 5pc to 23.1m TEU, Singapore up 5pc to 31.6m TEU
FIGURES from the Hong Kong Marine Department show the port handled 23.1 million TEU in 2012, a decrease of 5.3pc from 24.4 million in 2011 while December's figures showed a 11.3pc year-on-year drop to 1.9 million TEU.
Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority reported a 5.7 per cent increase in container movement in 2012, having handled 31.6 million TEU compared to 29.9 million TEU in 2011. December container volume experienced a year-on-year decline of 0.01 per cent to 2.6 million TEU.
