Railway checkpoint of Alataw pass's trade volume hit 16.5 million tonnes
NORTHWEST railway checkpoint at Alataw Pass bordering Kazakhstan saw a record high throughput of 16.5 million tonnes of import and export freight at the end of December in 2012, reports Xinhua.
The Alataw Pass Railway Station is one of the most important railway checkpoints in western China as the overland route for energy and resources imports. Along with the cargo trade volume increasing, it has become a major route for China and central Asian countries.
