CRIntermodal Qingdao railway offers trans-China service to Kazakhstan
A TRANS-CHINA railway from China Railway Intermodal's (CRIntermodal) had been established between Qingdao and Almaty, the principal city of Kazakhstan, Xinhua reports.
The train carried a total of 50 FEU of household appliances, food and drinks that crossed the Xinjiang's border checkpoint of Horgos four days later after departure.
Plans are in the works to extend the railway to Amsterdam, enabling 15-day run from the Yellow Sea to the English Channel by rail compared to 45 days by sea at nearly the same cost, claims Qingdao Daily.
The CRIntermodal Qingdao railway container terminal is one of the 18 major intermodal yards in China approved by the railways ministry. It had been offering domestic intermodal service to since it started operations in August 2010, and was later approved to offer international services last June.
