UPS offers 150 lbs plus overnight delivery within its air network
UPS has launched a new express air freight service, Worldwide Express Freight, for urgent, time-sensitive and high-value international heavyweight shipments, as an extension to its Worldwide Express package portfolio.
The new service is designed for customers requiring shipment of pallets weighing more than 150 lbs (68 kg) within the company's global air network that covers 37 origins in 41 destination countries and territories.
The company claims the service features some of the fastest transit times in the industry, including overnight shipping from the Asia Pacific region, Europe and the Americas to the US. Two-day shipping is available to Europe from Asia Pacific, the US, and the Americas.
It offers automated shipment preparation, online tracking and proactive notification technology, and both express freight and package shipments are consolidated into one bill. The service is said to help "companies get to market faster, capture more business and boost their competitiveness", said marketing chief Ed Buckley.
"Customers, particularly in the industrial manufacturing, automotive, hi-tech, retail and healthcare segments, have asked us for the same features for their urgent freight shipments," he said.
